GESB's Solar Power System is quick to install and more cost effective to commission and tu run due to higher efficiency of the system. For the price of a typical conventiomal lead-acid battery-based system, 1.7 units of the Solar Power System can be commissioned, meaning 70% more houses or households, or even schools can benefit from the system!
Logistically, the Solar Power System's components weigh less and require less space for transportation considerations mainly due to the Lithium-based green battery used, which is more compact and much lighter in weight compared to lead-acid batteries.
Installation and completion times are also quicker as the systems require less components. Hence, more systems can be transported and handled when compared to lead-acid battery-based systems.
The rechargeable green battery has a longer cycle life (1,500 cycles) and hence lasts longer, i.e. replacement every 5 years (if used daily) compared with every 1.5 to 2 years for lead-acide batteries.
When the green battery is spent and replaced with a new one, the used battery can be handled and disposed of safely. Foe the lead-acid battery, this becomes an issue when the battery is disposed of indiscriminately in the environment, especially when it is difficult and costly to transport the much heavier battery out from remote areas for proper dispocal. The actions will cause environmental damage and pose serious health threats to people living in the affected areas, now and in the future.
Also, once a lead-acid battery in a battery bank is faulty, the whole bank has to be changed, but in the case of the green battery, there is only one battery pack in a bank hence onle one battery has to be changed if faulty. Given that the lead-acid batteries are very heavy and difficult to transport into remote areas (again, transportation will be very costly!), this is also the reason for long down times when there are battery issues with the lead-acid battery-based solar power system.
The green battery charges faster than lead-acid batteries. This translates to the Solar Power System being able to achieve full autonomy faster than the lead-acid battery-based solar power system.
The Solar Power System can be designed to be modular, i.e. power requirements can be scaled up in the future. It can also be designed to be connected to the power grid in the future.
Particularly important, the green battery is environmentally friendly!
